Design & Comfort
A Wing-Back Armchair Built for Long Sitting
The tall wings and high backrest enclose the seat, shielding it from draughts and ambient noise — the reason wing-back armchairs have been used as reading chairs for centuries. The arms are gently sloped, so the chair supports a relaxed posture rather than an upright one.
The seat sits 44 cm above the floor: low enough to settle into, high enough to rise from without effort. The seat depth of 85 cm total depth allows both an upright reading position and a reclined one.
Where the Armchair Works Best
Thanks to its compact 91 cm width, the wing-back armchair fits a reading corner, a bedroom beside a window, a living room opposite a sofa, or a hotel and office lounge. The optional footstool repeats the same upholstery and leg finish, extending the chair into a full resting position.

Why Solid Beech Instead of Pine or Spruce
The wing-back armchair stands on solid beech — a hardwood with a density of roughly 680–750 kg/m³, against about 470 kg/m³ for pine and 440 kg/m³ for spruce, the softwoods often hidden inside cheaper furniture. Greater density means greater resistance to load and deformation where the legs meet the frame.
The legs are supplied by a different manufacturer than the workshop building our tables and chairs. A finish named here may therefore differ slightly in tone from the same name elsewhere in the collection, which is why we list only three clearly described options.

Soft and Durable Barrel Upholstery in 20 Colours
The wing-back armchair is upholstered in Barrel, a soft-touch fabric with a matte appearance and a dense weave suited to furniture in regular everyday use. Full technical data is in the Construction & Materials section above.
Colours displayed on a computer, tablet or smartphone may differ from the actual fabric. Screen settings, brightness, colour calibration, daylight and artificial lighting all influence how a shade appears.
For this reason we recommend ordering physical fabric samples before selecting the upholstery, particularly when matching the wing-back armchair to an existing sofa, flooring, wall colour or other textile.

Each finish allows the natural grain of the beech to remain visible. As wood is a natural material, subtle variations in grain, texture and tone are expected and make every armchair individual.
The legs for this armchair are produced by a different manufacturer than our tables and chairs, so a finish named here may not be an exact match to the same name on other pieces. If you are pairing the armchair with another EWA piece, please order samples or contact us before ordering.

Care & Cleaning
Caring for Your Wing-Back Armchair
Remove dust from the upholstery with a soft upholstery attachment. If a spill occurs, blot it promptly with a clean, absorbent cloth. Do not rub, soak the fabric or use strong cleaning agents.
Clean the lacquered beech legs with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry the surface afterwards. Avoid abrasive products, prolonged moisture and direct heat. Keep the armchair out of direct sunlight to limit fading.

Made to Order in Poland, Delivered Across Europe
Every wing-back armchair is prepared to order in the selected upholstery colour and leg finish. Standard production time is 2–4 weeks, followed by delivery time to the destination.
Orders are shipped from Poland, within the European Union. Deliveries within the EU do not require customs clearance. Orders delivered outside the EU may be subject to local import duties, taxes or customs handling charges.
Standard delivery is by courier to the curbside. Carry-in delivery to your room is available in Germany, the Netherlands, Czechia and Austria and can be selected at checkout.

How durable is the Barrel upholstery fabric?
Barrel is rated at 45,000–55,000 Martindale abrasion cycles with a pilling resistance of 4–5, which places it well above the level usually considered suitable for heavy domestic use.
Is the footstool included?
No — the matching footstool is an option you select at the top of this page. It is upholstered in the same Barrel colour and finished with the same solid beech legs as the armchair.
How long does delivery of the wing-back armchair take?
The armchair is handcrafted to order in 2–4 weeks, after which courier delivery time to your address is added. Carry-in delivery is available in Germany, the Netherlands, Czechia and Austria.
Can I see the fabric before ordering?
Yes. We recommend ordering 5 × 5 cm Barrel swatches, as screen colours differ from the real textile.
Is the wing-back armchair suitable for a small living room?
At 91 cm wide and 85 cm deep it suits compact reading corners and smaller living rooms, while the 113 cm backrest still gives full head and neck support.
