The Armchair No. 9 is a handcrafted compact Scandinavian velvet armchair on a solid beech frame, upholstered in Venus Velvet by Toptextil – a knitted velvet with a soft, dense pile. The open wooden armrests and the visible frame keep the silhouette light enough for smaller rooms.

Design & Comfort
A Compact Scandinavian Armchair for Everyday Sitting
The armchair has a balanced, lightweight silhouette designed for living rooms, reading corners, bedrooms, guest spaces and calm commercial interiors. The upholstered seat and backrest give comfortable everyday support without making the chair visually heavy.
The seat sits 41 cm above the floor with a 50 cm seat depth – a compact footprint that still supports a relaxed posture rather than a formal, upright one.

With a width of 60 cm and a depth of 80 cm, No. 9 fits a reading corner, a bedroom beside a window, a hallway, a home office, or a hotel room where a full-size lounge chair would crowd the space.
Construction & Materials
Solid Beech Frame and Venus Velvet Upholstery
The visible frame, armrests and legs are handcrafted from solid beech, a strong European hardwood valued for its stability and fine grain. The timber is left visible as part of the design rather than hidden under fabric, and finished in natural beech or walnut-stained beech.
Natural variations in colour, grain pattern and small mineral markings are characteristics of real timber, so every frame differs subtly from the photographs. As the armchair is handmade, minor variations in upholstery tension, stitching and wood finish may occur.

Why knitted velvet
Unlike woven velvet, a knitted base gives the fabric slight elasticity, which helps it sit smoothly over curved upholstery without creasing. Combined with the EasyClean, PetProof and WaterRepellent finishes, it is a forgiving choice for households with children or pets: most spills can be wiped off before they soak into the pile.
Wood finishes
Beech preserves the light, natural appearance of solid beech and works well in Scandinavian, minimalist and softly contemporary interiors. Walnut-stained beech adds a warmer, deeper brown tone while allowing the natural structure of the timber to remain visible. Stain appearance varies with the grain and porosity of each component.

The colour selector above shows the 18 Venus Velvet shades we keep in stock, from muted neutrals such as Ecru, Beige, Ash Grey and Graphite to saturated tones like Dark Burgundy, Aubergine, Bottle Green and Dark Turquoise. Each tile shows the actual fabric, and selecting a shade updates the product photograph.
Screen colours are never exact. If the shade matters, order a Venus Velvet fabric sample before deciding.

Care & Cleaning
Caring for Your Velvet Armchair
Vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment, following the direction of the pile. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth – thanks to the WaterRepellent finish most liquids can be lifted before they reach the base fabric. Do not rub, as this flattens the pile. As a pile fabric, Venus Velvet benefits from being smoothed by hand after use, which keeps the surface even.
Do not bleach, machine wash or steam the upholstery. Wipe the wooden frame with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it immediately. Keep the armchair away from radiators, open flames and prolonged direct sunlight, which fades any textile over time.

Made to Order, Delivered Across Europe
Every No. 9 is upholstered to order in our workshop in Mroczen, Poland. Standard production time is 2-4 weeks, followed by delivery time to the destination.
To protect it in transit, the outer frame is shipped disassembled – it is quick and easy to assemble at home.

Venus Velvet is rated at 90,000 Martindale cycles and falls into abrasion Category A, which places it well above the threshold usually recommended for residential furniture. It also carries EasyClean, PetProof and WaterRepellent finishes and a Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate.
How many versions of the armchair are there?

Can I see the fabric before ordering?
Yes – we sell 5×5 cm Venus Velvet samples so you can check the colour and texture in your own light before committing to a shade.

The walnut stain on this armchair is specific to this model and looks different from our separate wood finish samples – if you are unsure about the shade, write to us and we will send you photos.
